Jean-Nicolas Menu, an early 19th century Swiss gold verge fusee pair cased pocket watch c.1800, the enamel dial with Roman numerals and inscribed 'Jn. Nicolas Menu A. Geneve', the hands set with seed pearls, the dial surrounded by a border of pearls, the reverse intricately decorated in three colour gold depicting Cupid holding a flaming torch and dove before an alter encrusted with diamonds and garnets, flanked between columns set with pearls, the dial 38mm diameter, the case 45mm diameter, within a further gilt metal case with protective glass back 53mm diameter
Jean Nicolas Menu was a Swiss watchmaker. Married to a daughter of Jacob Wiss, he became a business partner in the Geneva watch workshop Wiss & Amalric in 1787.
