A 19th century c.1860 Thai niello gilded silver teapot of cylindrical form, with a liner and split hinged loop handle, the exterior with profuse floral lai dok phuttan decoration, on four bun feet, the lid with an attached floral filigree chain, 20.5cm high including handle, 528g

19th century Thai niello ware has a royal household association, and has long existed in both royal Thai collections and been given as State gifts by Thai royalty. A very similar example was given to the United States by King Monkut, Rama IV (Smithsonian museum USNM #65)
