Selling
Notes For Sellers
Pre Sale Valuation
We offer a free valuation service for any item brought into the Salerooms. If you have a number of items or wish to sell the contents of a house, please contact us to make an appointment for one of our valuers to visit your home.
Setting a Reserve Price
We are happy to agree a fixed reserve price below which price we will not sell. For less expensive lots, we usually recommend that your goods are sold at the auctioneers' discretion, which gives us a 10% leeway on the lower estimate printed in the catalogue.
Pre Sale Notification
You will receive a pre sale notification of the lot numbers of your property usually about a week before the sale. You are of course welcome to come to the view or attend the auction if you so wish.
Settlement
Sale results are sent out on the day of the auction and settlement is made within two weeks, subject to normal business conditions.
Charges
The Vendor commission payable is charged per lot on a sliding scale of 10% (+VAT) for lots realising £10,000 and above, and 15% (+VAT) for lots realising up to £9,999. We will not pay out on any statement totalling less than £10.
On all sold lots an indemnity charge will be levied at 1.25% (+ VAT) of the hammer price, and each sold lot will incur a lotting fee of £1.25 (+ VAT).
There are normally no charges for unsold lots with agreed reserves.
Removal costs will be charged where appropriate. We do not have transport and we do not undertake to collect items other than those that can be transported in a car. We can recommend hauliers to collect quantities.
