£260
A yew and elm Windsor chair pierced splat back, the yew arm bow set unusually wide on turned front supports, saddle seat raised on heavily turned legs joined by crinoline stretcher, 77cm wide, 91cm high, the seat 45cm high
The rare leg turning is sometimes found on chairs by Elizabeth Gabbitass of Worksop, and the splat and turned arm supports match those which can be found on stamped examples. Elizabeth Gabbitass, along with her husband John, was one of the first makers of Windsor chairs in Worksop, active c.1822-1843.
